1). Let Her Sleep.
2). Let Her Sleep.
3). Let Her Sleep.
4). Let Her Sleep More.
5). Give Her Wine.
Just kidding! Well, half kidding. Every mom I know, myself included, can use more sleep. The moment I gave birth, my quantity and quality of sleep went right out the window, (along with my high heels and dangly earrings!).
While chocolates and flowers are lovely Mother’s Day gifts, I prefer a homemade card, made with lots of love. And anything that helps me get more rest.
If you need help figuring out how to help your mom or wife sleep more, here are my top five suggestions for Mother’s Day gifts…
1). SPA VISIT
Treat her to a spa visit. A massage, a facial, or a mani-pedi. It will certainly help her relax a little. After all moms do for the family, they deserve a lot of pampering. A LOT.
2). OUTDOOR PEACE & QUIET
A hammock is a great Mother’s Day gift. Reading a good book while gently swaying. It’s the best.
I have to admit that I bought one for myself and I have to sneak outside to lay on it because my kids think it’s a giant swing. So not much relaxation happens on it yet. The occasional snuggle is awesome, but it usually escalates into my kids trying to flip me upside down!
But I do have high hopes it will one day be a nice napping spot for me.
3). SOUND MACHINE
I promise that this is awesome. Once my kids were old enough to be able to sleep through the night, and come get me if they needed something, I plugged in a sound machine on my nightstand and haven’t looked back. It drowns out hubby’s snoring too!
Personally, I like the plain old “white noise” setting, but the ocean waves can be nice too. Or the waterfall setting. Just beware, the water sounds may wake you up to pee. Which kind of defeats the purpose. So choose your sound wisely. It’s usually set on white noise at my house! I don’t take any chances.
4). CHORE COUPONS
Take a load off of mom’s mind by doing some of her usual, routine, and boring chores. Not helping with them, but doing them. All on your own. And doing them the correct way. Not a half-assed attempt.
I mean, this isn’t really a gift. This should be done on a regular basis. But especially on Mother’s Day… For the love of Pete, help out your mom/wife! You can even give her a homemade coupon that she can redeem for the upcoming week, or month too. Like “I _____, will do 5 loads of laundry, fold it and put away (neatly)”. I would LOVE that!
I saved the best for last…
5). A WINE DISPENSER
This may be the best Mother’s Day gift I’ve seen yet! A WineStation! Just don’t forget the extra wine.
Happy Mother’s Day to all my fellow moms! I wish you all lots of sleep and lots of wine!
And Happy Mother’s Day the best mom ever… my mom! xxoo
